Kune Kunes

KuneKunes, a New Zealand breed of pig, share the pasture with our sheep and guardian dogs. These small, shaggy heritage pigs are friendly, unhurried, and happiest with their nose in a patch of grass. Unlike most pigs, KuneKunes are true grazers, content to graze a pasture without tearing it apart, which makes them an ideal fit for the rotational, low-impact way we farm at Fish Trap.

That pasture-raised, grass-grazing life also shows up on the plate. KuneKunes are prized for richly marbled, deep-red meat with a flavor and tenderness that has made them a favorite of chefs and charcuterie makers. We raise them for folks looking to add a hardy heritage hog to their own land, as well as for anyone who simply wants the most charming pig on the farm.
